Drumming beats and woodworking wonders collide in the hands of a creative soul. Crafting rhythms for 26 years, and crafting dreams for 10 - welcome to the world of custom sounds and reinvented traditions. #DrummerOnAMission #CraftingCreativeBeats

Hello to all the Dum Drummers out there! So, a little bit about me:
I started my drum journey at age 12, completely on a whim. In 6th grade I had my heart set on playing saxophone, actually, so during the first semester I made it my purpose to be first chair recorder (we had to learn recorder before we could pick our instruments). I achieved that goal and was granted first pick for my instrument, with my heart set on saxophone I made my way down the halls of the school to the band room to declare my rightful place as a sax player. As I apporached the band room, a girl I had a crush on at the time walked by and commented on the drum set sitting in a corner of the band room. She said something along the lines of “drummers are so cute”. Thus, my journey as a drummer began.

I’ve been a drummer for 26 years and a woodworker for 10. Combining the two passions, it only made sense that I venture into the world of drum making. I love learning new things about the physics and acoustics of drum properties and decided to put that knowledge to use. I started off just tinkering with my own drums, replacing hardware, testing different heads, sanding shells to varying thicknesses, and cutting/recutting bearing edges. I then branched out to offering my services to friends as a hobbyist. I founded Dum Drums in 2015 when I started my hobbyist journey and took on commissions here and there but never really branched out of the “hobbyist” level as a business.

Now, in 2024, I hope to finally make that jump. My goal for Dum Drums is to create a community for drummers to learn about the instrument and grow in their creativity as well as building custom drums. Dum Drums is offering a variety of services including: Custom Drums, Drum Restoration, Drum Repairs, Drum Tuning/Head Replacement, Drum Blogs, and Testimonials. I also plan to start a semi-local Backline Service to provide kits, hardware, and head replacement for drummers in the area who don’t want, or have the capability, to travel with a drum kit and/or need to replace busted heads on the road.

At the end of the day my priority is building the Dum Drum Family. Sales are all well and good, and I would love for Dum Drums to become my primary source of income, but more importantly I want to build a community of drummers, percussionists, venues, churches, schools, etc… sharing success stories and tips and tricks with each other and empowering each other to learn and grow together.
